Week 21-25

Week 21-25

Once again, quite a bit has happened, and time has flown by!

I’ll probably have to summarize some of it, since I can’t remember exactly what happened each week.

The semi-detached house is basically finished, and the final cleaning is underway. The plumber needs to replace a broken toilet in a bathroom that we weren’t actually supposed to work on. We are also planning to submit a quote for replacing the exterior doors, as they can neither be properly adjusted nor locked securely. Other than that, the project is more or less complete!

The commercial premises that my colleague started working on earlier have been completely transformed. All the walls are now in place and insulated, with some reinforced with plywood. New windows and a patio door have been installed. The old garage door has been removed, and a new wall has been built in its place. All suspended ceilings and the central AC system have been installed. The terrace has been stripped of everything old and is now being prepared for new floor tiles and painting of all the surrounding walls. The security grilles that will be installed outside the windows were delivered this week. Filling and sanding work is progressing rapidly, and painting began in one of the rooms today. Things are really moving forward!

I also worked on a window replacement project for an American customer: seven windows and one patio door. We hired the company that supplies our windows to carry out the actual installation, as the windows were very large and they are specialists in this type of work. We coordinated everything—from ordering and delivery to building permits, permits for the lifting platform that was required, removal of an AC unit to allow one of the windows to be replaced, and reinstallation of the AC afterward. We also painted around all the new windows after installation. It may seem simple at times, but there is actually a great deal that has to come together at the right time to keep projects running smoothly.

I also helped a Swedish customer install drywall in a suspended ceiling, as well as sanding and filling. We replaced a toilet and a bathtub for the customer and also collected a considerable amount of materials.

One morning was spent replacing the bottom panel of a kitchen sink cabinet and cutting a new base panel for a wardrobe for another customer.

The café project is barely moving forward. The plumber has been there and completed his work, which is a positive step.

The electrician, however, has been a complete disaster. They have done a little work, but we are entirely dependent on him finishing his part. Most of the kitchen equipment has arrived, although we are still waiting for some items. The problem, once again, is the electrician, so we cannot complete anything. I have never experienced a project like this before, especially one where we cannot influence the other contractors because we did not hire them—the client did.

We also had family visiting for a week, so I took a day or two off to spend time with them and explore some new places. It was very nice to be able to show Valencia at its best!
