Weeks 26–31
Wow, it's been a long time since I last wrote an update.
The café is still at a standstill—nothing is happening, and it's entirely due to the client. Things have been very quiet there, even though it's frustrating to see the premises sitting unfinished when they could have been fully operational a long time ago. They continue to pay the rent, but not much else is happening. Time will tell when it finally opens. My guess is that it will be almost a year from the date the lease agreement was signed, which is an unbelievably long time for a project like this. Unfortunately, it's completely beyond my control.
The commercial premises we've been working on have now been completed, with only a few minor finishing touches remaining.
While we were working there, we were also asked to renovate a bathroom in the house next door. We still need to submit a quotation for that project. We have also been invited to look at additional jobs for friends of the client we have been working for, which is very encouraging.
We also replaced a washing machine for one customer after the drum had seized up and damaged the machine beyond repair. The job turned out to be more complicated than expected because the top-loading washing machine was installed in a corner, behind the toilet and next to the shower enclosure. However, after a lot of effort, we managed to complete the replacement successfully.
During August, I'll be on vacation in Sweden. Hopefully, we'll have a new project ready to start when I return. At the moment, however, things are uncertain, as one potential project has encountered several obstacles related to planning permission because the building is historically protected. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
