Week 32-38

I had a really nice break in Sweden during August. There was some maintenance work that needed to be done at the summer house, so I took the opportunity to get that done. I also spent some time visiting family and friends on Gotland.

It was a much-needed break and a chance to relax and recharge. I also took the opportunity to ride the motorcycle I keep in Sweden. That is real freedom!

Back in Valencia, the planned project still wasn’t ready to start. It turned out that there was a lot of work involved with the architects and the local authorities, as well as increased costs for the client. It seems that the client still wants to try to go ahead with the renovation, but at the moment it is very unclear when we will actually be able to start.

However, I received a request from another client who owns a holiday apartment and needed some help for a few days. It was great to get back to work and bring in some income. I am also currently repairing a bathroom ceiling that had developed damp stains. It seems that condensation from pipes above, which had not been properly insulated, caused the problem. The pipes have now been insulated.

I am also preparing quotations for a few jobs that we looked at before taking our holiday. One is a smaller window replacement, while the other is a larger renovation involving a kitchen, bathroom and window replacement.

I will also be submitting a quotation for interior plastering of the walls in a house in Castellón. We have already been given the go-ahead to paint the exterior of the house, which is planned for the end of November.

To my great delight, a previous client also got in touch. They would like a quotation for a larger renovation and conversion of their house. We are currently getting prices together for that project.

Next week, we are going to replace the entrance door to an apartment on the third floor. This will be a challenge because it is a steel door that will have to be carried up by hand, as it is too large and heavy to fit in the lift!

Last but not least, the work on the café has more or less come to a complete standstill. We are trying to find another electrician who can take over and finish the work. This will be a challenge, however, as the new electrician does not know how all the cables have been routed, and some of the previous electrical work appears to have been done incorrectly. So the saga continues!

I have at least been there and started building the sofa that will run along one side of the café, so at least something is happening there.

I have also started trying to put more effort into my social media, particularly Instagram and Facebook. The idea is to become more active there and show more of the work we are doing and the projects we are involved in.

The website will also be getting some extra attention, as it is not really working as it should at the moment. There are several things that need to be reviewed and improved.
